It's time to change up your beauty regimen to prepare for the cold winter weather and you can start by pampering yourself with these fun and inexpensive do-it-yourself beauty treatments that are natural, nursing and beautifying.
Apple Face Mask
Apples have great benefits to the body and to the skin. They make a good mask ingredient for those that have combination skin; this is because they help in moisturizing dry skin.
- 1 apple
- 1tsp honey
- 2 tbsp. whole milk
If you have a food processor you can roughly chop your apple and process it into a textured paste. If you don’t have a food processor, peel, and steam the apple, then mash it. Add a teaspoon of honey and two tablespoons of whole milk. You can also use the apple alone for a nice, simple mask. After steaming the apple, make sure it cools enough before you apply it to your face. Spread the mask across your face and leave it for about 15-20 minutes or more. Massage the mask into your face as your rinse it off with cool water.
Natural Hand Oil
Fall and Winter’s toll is often seen first on the hands. You can moisturize your hands regularly with my cutrus body butter or do this home recipe to massage into your skin and bring them back to life. You’ll get the hand soothing benefits while also extending the gift of massage.
- 1 teaspoon wheat germ oil
- 1 oz. vitamin E
- 2 oz. avocado oil
- 2 oz. apricot kernel oil
Blend oils together and massage into hands
Hydrating Face Mask
Pumpkins are loaded with various B vitamins and antioxidants that promote healthy hair and skin. This recipe will reduce frizz and revive dull and tired looking hair.
Recipe:
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 tbsp. coconut oil
- 1 tbsp. honey
Blend ingredients thoroughly so there are no clumps. Apply to the hair and let set for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cool water.
Glow Face Mask
Turmeric is high in antioxidants. It is a natural exfoliant that helps tone and brighten the skin. It fights against acne, lightens acne scars and reduces signs of aging with it's anti- inflammatory properties.
- 2 tbsp. yogurt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon honey
Blend ingredients together and smooth on the skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse with cool water.
